Before
beginning this study I want to elaborate on the word “THEN”, which is the first word of this chapter. This word is Strong’s # 5119: tote; from (the neut. of) 3588 and 3743; the when, i.e. at the time
that (of the past or future, also in consecution [sequence]): -- that time, then.
The time frame for this setting is not the issue of this article although this writer believes that the Kingdom of Yahweh
(God) has always been in existence unto this day. Yahshua (Jesus) said to the
chief priests and elders of the people: “The kingdom of Yahweh shall be taken from you,
and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof.” (Matthew 21:43).
How could he take something away if it wasn’t already in place? Men
who did not have the Holy Spirit were ruling it. The Sadducees and Pharisees
were bewitching the people by false representations.
In Acts 1:6 the Apostles came together and asked Yahshua: “Lord, will you at this time restore AGAIN the kingdom
to Israel?” He told them in verse 8 that they would receive POWER (#1411
ability) after the Holy Spirit came upon them. Power or ability to do what? Restore the Kingdom of course! Not just
to be witnesses or martyrs. After all, that’s what they wanted to know
about. When was the Kingdom going to be restored, or reconstituted back to the
Israelite peoples? They were to go out and teach people how to have lives of
“fruitfulness” in order to establish His Kingdom here on earth. According
to Rev. 19:8 being righteous in this life is the same thing as wearing “fine linen.”
It is not hard to find true people of Yahweh who exhibit “fruits” of the Spirit.
You shall know them by their fruits.
I recommend you read a book by Evangelist John L. Bray entitled “Mathew 24 fulfilled” which explains quit well
the events that took place in Jerusalem in 67-70 A.D. when the temple was destroyed and great tribulation was upon the inhabitants
of the city.
There are many words in chapter 25 that we need to take a close look at. By using
your Strong’s Concordance, we will examine the words used that are below underlined, where else they are used in scripture,
and then see the symbolism of this parable of the 10 virgins.
Verses 1-4: “Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins
which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom, and five of them were wise, and five foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them, but the
wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.
Verses
5-9: “While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered (to fall asleep) and slept. At midnight there was a cry made, ‘behold,
the bridegroom comes; go you out to meet him.’ Then all those virgins arose,
and trimmed their lamps. The foolish said unto the wise, ‘Give us
of your oil; for out lamps are gone out.’ But the wise answered
saying, ‘Not so, lest there be not enough for us and you, but go you rather to them that sell, and buy
for yourselves.”
Verses
10-13: “While they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and they that were ready went in with
him to the marriage, and the door was shut. Afterward came
also the other virgins, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open to us’, but he answered and said, “Verily I say unto you,
I know you not. Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour wherein
the Son of man comes.”
Verses 1-4
VIRGINS,
#3933 parthenos; a maiden; by impl. An unmarried daughter: - virgin.
II Corinthians
11:2, Paul says “For I am jealous over you with godly jealousy, for I have espoused you to one husband, that
I may present (#3936 stand beside) you as a chaste virgin to Christ.”
Believing false doctrines taught by “churches and their members” espouses people to another husband other than
Yashua the Lamb.
Rev. 14:4, “These are they (the saints) which were not defiled
with women (churches who teach another Gospel); for they are virgins. These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goes. These were redeemed (bought) from among men, the firstfruits
unto Yahweh and to the Lamb.”
Jeremiah 2:3, “Israel was [is]
holiness unto Yahweh, the firstfruits of his increase.
All that devour him shall offend; evil shall come upon them, says Yahweh.”
So we can see that VIRGINS are and have been those that “have
the Father’s name written in their foreheads” [they will know and possess
His character] (Rev. 14:1) and in verse 4, “These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goes.” See also Daniel 9:19, Isa. 43:7, James 2:7.
LAMPS,
#2985, lampas, from #2989 a lamp or flambeau: - lamp, light, torch.
The word “light” is found in only one place and that is Matthew 5:15. “Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel but on a candlestick; and it gives
LIGHT unto all that are in the house (temple).” And in verse 16, “Let
your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” The
GOOD WORKS are the LIGHT!! But this does not mean that the good works are the
oil.
So far in this parable we have learned that the flock that follows the Lamb are called virgins. They seek after righteousness and obey his Commandments having lights that shine from their lamps in the
form of thoughts, words and deeds or works, which reflect Christ’s life in their own lives each and every day. “CHRIST IN US” (Col. 1:27). This
is one of the mysteries that has been hidden from the nations of Israel, but is now manifested to and IN his saints, and is
the hope of glory, so that we stand together with the saints as the perfect or complete BRIDE in Christ.
WISE,
#5429 phronimos; from 5424; thoughtful, i.e. sagacious or discreet (implying a cautious character): - wise (-r).
Luke chapter 16 has a parable of the unrighteous steward. He was commended for
being WISE even more than the children of light in verse 8, but as we find out, He was comparing this parable to the Pharisees
who were covetous and justified themselves before men, which is an abomination or idolatry in the sight of Yahweh.
What is a steward? See #3623, oikonomos from3624 and the base of 3551; a house-distributor,
i.e. manager or overseer…treasurer; fig. a preacher of the Gospel: - chamberlain, governor, steward.
Matthew 7:24, “Therefore whosoever hears these sayings of mine, and does them,
I will liken him unto a WISE man, which built his house upon a rock…”
Matthew 10:16, “Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves; be you therefore
WISE as serpents, and harmless (no deceit) as doves.”
FOOLISH,
#3474, moros from the base of 3466; dull or stupid (as if shut up), i.e. heedless, (morally) blockhead, (appar.) absurd: -
fool (-ish, x –ishness).
#3466
musterion, from a der. of muo (to shut the mouth); a secret or “mystery” (through the idea of silence imposed
by initiation into religious rites): - mystery.
Matthew 7:26, “And every one that hears these sayings of mine, and does them
not, shall be likened unto a FOOLISH man which built his house upon the sand…”
I Cor. 1:27, “But God (#2316 theos, another word for the godly; II
Cor 1:12) has chosen the FOOLISH things of the world to confound the wise” (#4080 wise in general [not the spiritually wise Virgins]). Yes, the
foolish people are those who do not establish faith and doctrine on Christ as the firm Rock on which to build. They are the teachers, stewards and members of the flock who rely on the things of this world. They are the ones confounding the general population.
Confounding is #2617 from 2596 and 153; to shame down, i.e. disgrace or (by impl.) put to the blush: - confound, dishonour,
(be a-, make a-) shame (-d).
Luke 16:3 uses this #153 of the steward who was accused of wasting the rich man’s good.
“The steward said within himself, what shall I do? For my lord takes away
from me the stewardship. I cannot dig; to beg (to ask for) I am ASHAMED…when I am put out [of the kingdom] they may receive me into their houses.”
Romans 9:33, “…Behold, I lay in Zion a stumbling stone and rock of offense, and whosoever believes
on him shall not be ashamed.” So
you see, if you are WISE as the Virgins in this study, there can be no disgrace, no shame or being confounded by anyone as
to what the Word of Yahweh really means.
But half of the Virgins were FOOLISH!! How can this be? They had LIGHT in the beginning along with the WISE Virgins. The
problem was that they did not continue in good works, as in the parable of the sower in Luke 8. Some of these virgins let wicked ones take the WORD out of their hearts.
Some of them fell away due to temptation, while others were choked with the cares of this world which blinded them. They had no root in themselves, and their lamps were going out, so they had to ASK
FOR (beg) more oil. So what was this oil?
Could it be the WORD and the love of truth? Yes!
OIL,
#1637 elaion, the same as 1636; olive oil: - oil. 1636, elaia, el-ah’-yah,
an olive (the tree or the fruit): - olive (berry, tree).
I wish to interject a side note on the pronunciation of the Greek #1636 – el-ah’-yah. It is similar to the way Elijah is pronounced in the Hebrew text.
Elijah is #452 ay-lee-yaw, from 410: El (God), and 3050: Yah (the sacred name, the Lord most vehement). God of Yahovah, or Yahweh, as some pronounce it.
I’m not saying that there is any connection, only that there seems to be. If
ay-lee-yaw or the word Elijah means the God of Yah and the Greek el-ah’-yah is the word for OIL, and we know that the
Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are one, then we can say that our anointing of the (olive) OIL OF THE SPIRIT is the same as receiving
the Father (Yahweh) and the Son (Yahshua), and their Holy Spirit or character. In
Hebrew Yeshuwah, yesh-oo’-aw is #2444, aid, victory, prosperity: - deliverance, health, help, salvation, save, saving
(health), welfare. [The King James translates the word as Jesus in Greek.]
In Hebrew, #2132 zayith akin to 2099, an olive (as yielding ILLUMINATING OIL), the tree, the branch or the berry: - olive
(tree, -yard), Olivet.
#2099
Ziv, to be prominent; brightness, the month of flowers (Ijar or April-May): - Zif. This
is Yah’s second month in His calendar.
Psalms
52:8, David says of himself, “But I am like a green olive tree in the house of Yah. I trust in the mercy of Yah forever and ever.”
Psalms
128:3, 4, “Your wife [the Virgin bride] shall be as a fruitful
vine by the sides of your house, your children like olive plants round about your table. Behold, that thus shall the man be blessed that fears Yahweh.”
We ourselves are to produce light, but we cannot do this without the Holy Spirit. When
we have the Holy Spirit, we also have the Father and the Son, and we become ONE WITH THEM.
We too can be this oil as we give of ourselves to each other in Love by teaching the Gospel of the Kingdom. “You are the light of the world.” (Matt. 5:14).
Oil is for anointing.
In the Old Testament, kings were anointed with oil before taking the throne.
Today, we are anointed with the Holy Spirit as a kingdom of kings and priests.
(Rev. 1:6 and 5:10)
II Corinthians 1:21, “Now he which establishes (to stabilize) us with you in Christ and has anointed us is Yahweh,
who has sealed us and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.”
Oil is for healing.
We are instructed to lay hands on the newly baptized convert for the anointing of the Holy Spirit. In Acts 8:17, 18 “Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was
given.”
James 5:14, “Is any sick (#770, feeble) among you? Let him call for the
elders of the church, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord, and the prayer of faith
shall save the sick…”
The word “SICK” in Hebrew is #605 and can also mean frail and feeble, or the words “desperately
wicked” as in Jeremiah 17:9: “The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked,
who can know it?” As you know, only
the Holy Spirit can cure such a condition through a Spiritual calling to repentance.
The Greek #1636 for “olive” is used in Revelation 11:4, “These are the
two olive trees; the two candlesticks standing before the God of the earth.” From Revelation 1:20 we learn that candlesticks are churches.
I believe these 2 witnesses are Israel and Judah respective of the 12 tribes of Israel, also known as His Church. The tribes had become separated in the captivity of Babylon, but are now joined as one in the freedom
of the Messiah, and the knowledge of His Kingdom. Christ has already set the captives free from
sin and death, and united them in one mind and spirit.
John 8:36: "If the Son therefore shall make you free, you shall be free indeed."
See also Romans 8:2 and Gal. 5:1.
VESSELS,
(found only in Matthew) #30 aggeion, from aggos (a pail, perhaps as bent; compare the base of 43); a receptacle: - vessel. #43 is an arm.
Verses 5-9
The words
slumbered and slept (#2518) indicate that they were simply lying down in bed for the night.
Were the virgins watchful and sober as I Thess. 5:6 indicates that we are to be?
SLEPT #2518 can
also mean “DEAD” from reading Ephesians 5:14. “Wherefore
he said Awake (#1453) you that SLEEP (2518), and arise (stand up) from the dead, and Christ shall give
you light.”
Being
dead is symbolized by water baptism, and the standing up again is your resurrection from the watery grave. Paul writes to
the Saints in Romans 6:1-13, “What shall we say then? Shall we continue
in sin, that grace may abound? Yah forbid.
How shall we that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Know you not, that so many of us as were baptized
into Christ were baptized into his death? Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ
was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of
his resurrection. Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that
the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. For
he that is dead is freed from sin. Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe
that we shall also live with him (co-survive), knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dies no more, death has
no more dominion over him. For in that he died, he died unto sin once; but in
that he lives, he lives unto Yah. Likewise reckon (to number) you also
yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive (#2198 quicken) unto Yah through Yeshua the Messiah
our Lord. Let not sin reign in your MORTAL BODY…as instruments of unrighteousness…yield
yourselves unto Yah, AS THOSE THAT ARE ALIVE FROM THE DEAD, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto Yah."
Paul
further says in Romans 8:11, “But if the Spirit of him that raised up Yashua from the dead dwell in you, he that
raised up Christ from the dead shall also quicken (make alive) your MORTAL bodies by his Spirit that dwells
in you.”
II Corinthians
3:17: “Now the Lord [Yeshua] IS that Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty.” 4:7-11, “But we have this treasure (Yashua) in earthen vessels, that the excellency
of the power may be of Yah, and not of us…Always bearing about in the body the dying of Yashua, that the life also of
Yashua might be made manifest in our body…our mortal flesh.”
All of
these virgins had heard the word, repented and were baptized, putting to death their old man and were resurrected to a newness
of life. Again I remind you of the parable of the sower.
AROSE, #1453, edeiro; probably akin to the base of 58 (through the idea
of collecting one’s faculties); to waken (trans. Or intrans), i.e. rouse (lit. from sleep, from sitting or lying, from
disease, from DEATH; or fig. From obscurity, inactivity, ruins, non-existence): - awake (Ephesians 5:14), lift (up) (Matt.
12:11), raise (again, up), rear up, (a-) rise (again, up), stand, take up (Acts 10:26).
Rom. 13:11-14, “And that, knowing the time that now it is high time to AWAKE out of sleep, for
now is our salvation nearer than when we believed, the night is far spent, the day is at hand; let us therefore cast off the
works of darkness and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk honestly,
as in the day, not in rioting…not in strife and envying, but put you on the Lord, Yashua the Messiah, and make not provision
for the flesh to fulfill the lusts thereof.”
This word ARMOR is #3696 hopion to be busy about; an implement or utensil or tool (lit. or fig., espec. Offensive
for war): - armour, instrument, weapon.
We are to arm ourselves with the SWORD OF TRUTH, the Word of God, which is sharper than any two edged sword. With it we slay the wicked. For we know that “the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through Yahweh
to the pulling down of strong holds…” (2 Cor. 10:4)
“…Yield yourselves unto Yah, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments
of righteousness unto Yah. For sin shall not have dominion over you…” (Romans 6:13-14)
TRIMMED, #2885, kosmeo; from 2889; to put in proper order, i.e. decorate
(lit. of fig); spec. to snuff (a wick): - adorn (Rev. 21:2), garnish (Mat. 23:29, Rev. 21:19), trim.
#2889 kosmos from the base of 2865; orderly arrangement, i.e. decoration; by impl. The world (in a wide or narrow sense, including
its inhab., lit. or fig. [mor.]): - adorning, world ( I John 2:2).
I Peter 3:3 instructs
us to let our adorning be “the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible…a meek and quiet spirit,
which is in the sight of Yah of great price.”
GONE OUT
Oil is the element in the lamp that burns to make light. The process of putting
the fire out is known as quenching.
I Thessalonians 5:19 we are instructed to “Quench not the Spirit.”
Quench:
#4570 sbennumi; a primary verb; to extinguish: - go out, quench.
Five of the virgin’s lamps had gone or were going out in verse 8. Can we say then that the oil is the Holy Spirit?
Yes, if you believe that the WORD (Yahshua) became flesh and dwelt among us, and that Yahshua is the life giver; the
Spirit of Yahweh as stated in 2 Corinthians 3:6, 17.
Matthew 24:12, Yahshua said, “And because iniquity (without
law) shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold.”
II Thessalonians 2:10, “With
all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish (die), because they received not (would not
accept) the LOVE OF THE TRUTH, that they might be saved.”
In verse 9 the wise virgins would not give of their oil to the
foolish virgins. They said that there would not be enough for them all. This word “ENOUGH” is important in this study to help us understand more
about the “oil”.
ENOUGH,
#714, arkeo, appar. a prim. verb…to ward off, i.e. (by Impl.) to avail (fig. be satisfactory): - be content, be enough,
suffice (I Peter 4:3), be sufficient.
In Luke 3:14 John instructs the soldiers (those who go into
warfare) to be content with their wages. To see what “wages”
are earned, we have to go to John 4:35, 36. Yahshua is telling the parable of
the harvest. Those that reap receive “WAGES” as they gather fruit
unto life eternal.
The Messiah said in II Corinthians 12:9: “My grace is sufficient for you, for my strength is made perfect in weakness.” Is it possible to give away or share the GRACE that
is given by the Father and his Son? No.
No one can come to the Son unless the Father draws him or her. Can the
Grace be the oil? No.
SELL, #4453 poleo, ultimately from pelomai (to be busy, to trade); to
barter (as a pedlar), i.e. to sell: - sell, whatever is sold.
In Revelation
13:16-17, A beast “causes all both small and great, rich and poor, free
and bond to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads, that no man might buy or sell,
save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.”
The only
people who would be trying to “sell” this oil for spiritual
“light” are the ministers of false churches. They are wolves in sheep’s
clothing. Remember Simon in Acts 8:17-21.
He thought that the gift of Yahweh could be purchased with money. His
heart was not right in the sight of Yahweh, therefore the foolish virgins like Simon, had neither part nor lot (portion,
part) in this matter” (#3056 LOGOS: -WORD). So, who are the ones
believing that they could buy this gift? Who really are these foolish virgins?
Those who after repenting, being baptized and receiving the Holy Spirit, would not continue in TRUTH but had pleasure in unrighteousness.
While
they went to buy, the bridegroom came and they that were prepared, fit for battle and ready, went in with him and the door
was shut. Yahshua the bridegroom said to those who had no oil in Matthew 25:12,
“…I know you not.”
We know
that the Holy Spirit is a FREE GIFT, so why did the wise virgins not freely give what they had? There is more to it than just the Spirit or the Word being the oil.
It is the knowledge that the Spirit has taught them through diligent study of the Word.
You cannot go to “the world” to learn what the Bible teaches. It
must come from within; it must come from the Holy Spirit as you study your Bible. The
Spirit leads you into all truth.
BUY, # 59 agorazo; from 58; to go to market, i.e. (by impl.) to purchase;
spec. to redeem: - buy, redeem.
The redeemed unto Yahweh out of every kindred by the Blood of Yahshua are made kings and priests to reign on the earth. This is part of the song the saints sing in Rev. 5:9.
They are the 144,000.
Rev. 14:3-13, “And they sung as it were a new song before the throne, and before the four beasts, and the elders,
and no man could learn that song but the hundred and forty four thousand, which were redeemed from the earth. These are they which were not defiled with women; for they are VIRGINS.
These are they which follow the Lamb whithersoever he goes. These were
redeemed from among men, the firstfruits unto Yahweh and to the Lamb. And in
their mouth was found no guile, for they are without fault before the throne of Yahweh.”
#58 agora
(to gather; akin to 1453); the town-square (as a place of public resort); by impl. A market or thoroughfare: - market (-place),
street.
Mark
6:56, “…they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the
border of His garment, and as many as touched Him were made whole.” It
is the sick who were in the streets to “buy”, “purchase” or “redeem” themselves.
#1453
egeiro; akin to the base of 58 (through the idea of collecting one’s faculties); to waken (trans. Or intrans.), i.e.
rouse (lit. from sleep, from sitting or lying, from disease, from death; or fig. From obscurity, inactivity, ruins, non-existence):
- awake, lift (up), raise (again, up), rear up, K(a-) rise K(again, up), stand, take up.
Verses 10-13
“While
they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and they that were ready went in with him to the marriage, and the door was
shut. Afterward came also the other virgins, saying, ‘Lord, Lord,
open to us’, but he answered and said, “Verily I say unto you, I know you not.
Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man comes.”
MARRIAGE, #1062, gamos; of uncertain afffin.; nuptials: - marriage, wedding.
The Wedding
banquet parable of Matthew 22 is the same wedding of chapter 25. There was someone
there at the wedding who did not have on a wedding garment. He was “speechless”. He had no robes of righteousness. He
was doing nothing with his life. He was cast into outer darkness
with weeping and gnashing of teeth.
DOOR, #2374, thura;
a prim. word, a portal or entrance (the opening or the closure, lit. or fig): - door, gate.
This door is the “Strait Gate” of Luke 13:14-28, although the word for “gate” is different
than #2374. The wording of the parables is the same. See also the parable of the “Talents” in Matthew 25.
Those who cannot enter the door are all workers of iniquity or unrighteousness.
“Strive to enter in at the strait gate, for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter
in, and shall not be able. When once the master of the house is risen up, and
has shut to the door, and you begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and
he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence you are. Then shall you
begin to say, we have eaten and drunk in your presence, and you have taught in our streets (there is that word streets
again). But he shall say, I tell you I know you not
whence you are; depart from me, all you workers (#2040 Teachers) of iniquity. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you shall see Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and all the
prophets in the kingdom of Yah, and you thrust out.”
Next
we can learn that the “door” is not a thing, but rather a person! None
other than Yahsua himself. John 10:1-9 gives us the parable of the good shepherd. “Verily, verily, I say to you, He that enters not by
the door into the sheepfold, but climbs up (ascends Rev. 11:7) some other way, the same is
a thief and a robber. But he that enters in by the door is the shepherd of the
sheep. To him the porter opens and the sheep hear his voice, and he calls his
own sheep by name, and leads them out. And when he puts forth his own sheep,
he goes before them, and the sheep follow him, for they know his voice. And a
stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him; for they know not the voice of strangers.”
Because the Pharisees did not understand the parable Yahshua spoke more words to them starting in verse 7. “Verily, verily, I say unto you, I AM THE DOOR OF THE SHEEP. All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers, but the sheep did not hear them. I AM THE DOOR. By me if any man enter in, he shall be saved,
and shall go in and out, and find pasture.”
The only voice for us to listen to is our Savior’s Holy Spirit. The Spirit leads us to truth. Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock, if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and
will sup with him, and he with me.”
Just as a side note, the men of Sodom that were at Lot’s “door” were struck with blindness, both small and
great, so that they wearied themselves to find the “door.”
There is a “KEY” to this door!!! Yahshua gives us this key, and it
gives us entry into the kingdom. (Matt. 16:19).
In Revelation 3:7 the word Philadelphia means brotherly love. If we have this
LOVE, Yahshua knows our WORKS, and sets before us an OPEN DOOR whom no man can shut (v. 8).
We have access to the kingdom because of this love. THIS IS THE “KEY”. It is called the “Key of David”.
David means “to love”. (Hebrew #1732)
John 14:17, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” And in John 15:13, “Greater love has no man than this, that a man lay down
his life for his friends. You are my friends, if you do whatsoever I command
you.”
We
use the word friend too lightly. If an acquaintance of ours does not keep the
commandments given by Yahweh through Moses, then they are no friends of ours. Brotherly
love is friendship. “For whosoever shall do the
will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.” (Matthew 12:50)
The word “key” is #2807 “to shut”, which takes us to the next numbered word.
SHUT, #2808, kleio;
a prim. verb; to close (lit. or fig.): - shut (up). Rev. 3:7.
This
word is found in a portion we have already studied in Luke 13:25 for the word “door”, but as we study and have
the patience we can ask the question: “Is it possible for the 5 foolish virgins to ever enter into the door, even though
they had been denied access once?”
Hebrews
6:4-12, “For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened, and have tasted (experience) of the heavenly
gift; were made partakers of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of Yah, and the powers of the world to come, if
they shall fall away (apostatize, fall aside), to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves
the Son of Yah afresh, and put him to an open shame.”
However,
there is a scripture in Revelation that would seem to say that there is a possibility for them to enter. Yahshua has John write to the church at Ephesus. This church
has patience and is doing a work yet in chapter 2 verse 4 He says to them: “Nevertheless
I have somewhat against you, because you have left your first love. Remember
therefore from where you are fallen (become inefficient, fail), and repent and do the
first works, or else I will come unto you quickly, and will remove your candlestick out of his place, except you repent.”
There is an indication that repentance can be acquired a second time. One says
it is impossible to repent again, while the other says that if you don’t your light giver will be removed.
Mathew
12:31-32, “…All manner of sin and blasphemy (vilification, railing) shall be forgiven unto men, but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men. Whosoever speaks a word against the son of man, it shall be forgiven him, but
whosoever speaks against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.”
Since
Yahshua is the same as the Holy Spirit (2 Cor. 3:17), we know that the “son of man” is not referring to Christ. The word “son” is #5207 and can also be in the plural. It is used as “children” in Romans 9:26, “…they (Israel) shall be called
the children of the living Elohim.” Evil can be spoken against
the children of Yahweh and be forgiven, but not against Yahshua, i.e. the Holy Spirit.
